SILVERUDD'S BLUES (AKA ISBARS) - This extremely rare Swedish breed is really something special and still VERY rare in the US.
They lay a copious amount of large GREEN eggs, of multiple and ever-changing shades!! They're a smaller bird, and actually PREFER foraging, keeping feed costs low and lawns trim. They lay well into the winter, start early in the spring, and can out-lay even the Rhode Island Reds.
Top that off with the gentlest, inquisitive temperments, three color variations, and the fact that they're a non-hybrid breed (meaning their babies will ALSO lay green eggs), you just can't go wrong!
RHODE ISLAND REDS - These heritage, dual-purpose birds are a mainstay of many modern homesteaders, an established standard for great egg-laying and good temperaments. But, without a rooster of our own, we've never offered them before.
But we believe strongly in living in alignment with our community, sharing workload and resources when we can. We have to be more than just a group of similarly labeled addresses.
We're honored this year to hatch out and offer RIRs due to our community, reflecting those core values.
BLACK COPPER MARANS - Definitely one of the Primadonnas of our little poultry world. Excellent dual-purpose birds, growing relatively fast. This lineage's focus is to create large, dark "mexican-chocolate" eggs, leaning more towards the reddish maroons or burnt umber tints versus the mahogany and chestnut chocolates. We also highly favor when they are decorated with large polka dot spotches or pink-hued blooms.
